Smith & Hook Winery is located in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County, overlooking the fertile Salinas Valley. Founded in 1979, the Winery and vineyards are owned by the Nicolaus Hahn Family. Initially producing only Cabernet Sauvignon, the winery has expanded its vineyards over the years, now also producing Merlot, Viognier and Chardonnay under the Smith & Hook brand. In 1991, the Hahn Estates brand was introduced. Under the Brand, Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay and a Meritage are produced, all using estate grown grapes.
The Hahn Family owns over 1,400 acres of vineyards in Monterey County. Winemaker Art Nathan chooses the grapes for making Smith & Hook and Hahn Estates wines. We contract the remaining fruit to other wineries, who love our style! Hahn
