Two Italian brothers founded this winery in 1933 to feature Santa Cruz Mountain wines, and now a third generation directs the operation, Beverly, Tom, John & Martin Bargetto. The winery, which stands as the oldest California winery producing Santa Cruz Mountains wines, has continued their pioneering spirit with the establishment of a new Santa Cruz Mountains Vineyard in Corralitos, California (Santa Cruz County), where they have planted Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir. In keeping with their family heritage, they plan to experiment with the northern Italian varieties in the future. With a commitment to quality for over 67 years, the Bargetto family showcases to wine lovers the unique richness of limited production wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains (SCM) of California. Under the direction of veteran Winemaker Paul Wofford, Bargetto Winery gives the special attention to its SCM wines. The Bargetto SCM Chardonnay is barrel fermented to create a rich, elegantly styled wine. The SCM Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for two years in barrels and three additional years in the bottle to give added softness to this intense wine.
